Just waiting.......

We still have no definite word on when Seth will be home...we're just waiting...and waiting...and waiting...for a call. It's really frustrating. I know the wait will be over soon, but...oh my gosh, can it possibly take any longer...arrrggghhh!!! Yes, Courtney, I'm going out to the country Friday and will go out into the woods by myself and scream at the top of my lungs..... :)

The replacements have taken over the missions, so Seth's group is just waiting, too. In talking to one of Seth's buddies this week, he told me that one of the new guys got hit already, doing the same thing Seth had been doing for the past month. That really made me catch my breath. He's going to be okay, though, and is on his way back to the states already. As a matter of fact, he'll beat Seth home and will probably be eating turkey tomorrow..... :)

And that brings me to the reason for this post...to wish all of you a very happy Thanksgiving!!! I have so much to be thankful for this year...ah, but that's another post..... :)

The empty room

For almost a year now, our daughter in law has been living with us. We moved her in right after Seth left for Iraq, early last December. Now, she's gone. We moved Katie to Fort Hood this weekend...to a very nice house on post. I can't help but smile...even though I have sore muscles and an aching back...because the empty room is a sure sign that Seth is almost home......woohoo!!! Need I say more???

On a side note, yesterday was our wedding anniversary. Ken and I had planned on celebrating by going out to dinner and a movie...but that was when we thought Katie wouldn't sign for the house until tomorrow. So, instead of spending a romantic evening together, we spent the evening with Katie and Rick, toting boxes and furniture, putting things together, eating pizza, and sleeping on an air mattress on the floor. I swear, some of the things we do for our kids...... :)

The tag team has arrived...

I talked to my baby boy today......on the phone!!! I can’t tell you how big my smile is, but I bet you can imagine. He hadn’t been on the IM in over a week, so I was missing him. Seth doesn’t have Internet access for his computer anymore since he moved out of his room to make way for their REPLACEMENTS. Yes, the tag team has arrived...yeehaw!!! That means that the end is definitely in sight. His buddy, who still has access to a computer all the time, told me not to worry, that Seth was okay. I said, “I know that, I just miss talking to him.” He said he’d tell Seth that his mommy wanted to talk to him...in front of the whole platoon......lol. I think he just wanted to get even with Seth for telling him he had to wear full battle rattle to a meeting, and of course, he was the only one who did...hahaha. I swear, those guys...just like Seth and his brothers. Seth says he probably won’t be on the IM anymore because there are so many guys there now that it will be almost impossible to get on one of the computers in the comm center. He’s living in the gym with 100 other guys right now...and I could hear half of them in the background while we were on the phone.....lol. Oh well, this phone call should hold me for a while. It had me fighting back the tears and then grinning like the Cheshire Cat...what a roller coaster ride...but I’m still smiling...... :)

Sisters

I'm off to spend the day with my sisters. It's my younger sister's birthday today and we're going to celebrate. I'm lucky that they both live so close that we can do that. It's become a ritual for the other two to take the birthday sister out to lunch or dinner and a few hours of sisterly camaraderie.

When we get together, we laugh so hard sometimes that people in restaurants look at us like we're crazy...which just makes us laugh that much harder. We do have a good time.

Anyway, here's to my sisters who have helped me keep my sanity during a long, trying year...I don't know what I would have done without them. Happy birthday, Sooz...love you both.
