Mothers Day

It all started with an announcement from the kids that I had to be dressed for the weather and ready to go by about noon on Sunday. They had something up their sleeves, but no one was talking . . . not even Ken.

They all bopped over to the house about noon and stood around for a few minutes. Then Kevin and Katie disappeared, leaving Seth and Rick to hang out and make small talk. After 15 minutes or so, Rick's phone rang . . . "Taco Bueno," he answered, mumbling something else too low for me to hear. His phone rang a couple more times . . . with the same answer, I might add . . . until finally he said it was time to go.

Alrighty then . . . we jumped in my car and I drove . . . too many passengers for the pickup truck . . . following Rick's directions. We ended up out at White Rock Lake. We drove around the lake until Rick said to pull in and park. There, sitting on a quilt, were Kevin and Katie with a box of chicken, a cooler full of drinks, a bouquet of flowers, and a singing card that made me cry because of the sweet things they wrote in it.

I have to admit, I reminisced a bit as the boys wrestled and picked at each other. Watching them throw leftover biscuits to the ducks took me back to a day when they were all wee little boys. As Katie and I sat on the quilt watching the guys be goofy, I said, "just think, Katie, one day you'll be watching your grown-up son just like this." She smiled, grabbed my hand, and pressed it against her belly . . . my grandson was kicking up a storm. It was a perfectly wonderful day!!!

It's a boy!!!

Just wanted to write a short note to tell all of you that it's a boy. I think I know what to do with a boy, don't you? . . . hehehe

Katie sent me this picture that was taken when they did the ultrasound last week. I'm in love with the little guy already, and can't wait to hold him . . . . . :)

They're coming in this weekend and will be here for a little over a week. I can't wait to see them and I will forewarn you, Katie, I'm gonna have to touch that belly . . . . . :)
